Project : UN Equilibrium House, Ahmedabad 2019
Area : 113 sq mts
Brief : How less can you build, when the clients merely wants a covered building to just enjoy the garden and organic farm on a plot of land? The shoe string budget insisted upon minimal material and the fact that the house was to be used very little suggested rough enduring materials.

All walls are shear walls and roof tapers from left to right since the number of walls are more at right. Hence the name ?UNequilibium house? as the roof is lopsided yet balanced. All non-load bearing walls are of brick, pine wood or glass and hollow, acting as insulation between the hot outside and keeping inside cool.

In the tight geometry of right angles, the curved wall acts a barrier and bridge at the same time, although the most massive element, it nullifies its existence by not touching the slab, thus establishing itself as a partition wall. The curved wall goes beyond the rectilinear plan and slowly immerses itself in the ground.

The interior surfaces are mostly bespoke with hand painted walls, shutters and wardrobe exteriors. The doors are louvered to allow breeze and sunlight in while remaining closed. The drawing room is made of recycled wood, with windows on three sides overlooking the serene landscape outside.
